About Genesis House, Inc.

The Genesis House, Inc. was established in May 1985 and began providing substance abuse counseling to adults and adolescents in Lycoming County. In our 30 years of operation we have expanded by adding four additional locations, that serve the Columbia, Montour, Dauphin/Northern Dauphin, Cumberland, York, Lebanon, Perry, Schuylkill, and Northumberland Counties. In addition we have expanded our counseling services to include Co-Occurring disorders, gambling disorders, and Trauma counseling.

Our Mission

Our dedicated staff’s mission is to alleviate the symptoms as rapidly as possible and assist in the transformation of the lives of those individuals and families impacted by substance use disorder and Co-Occurring disorders, through the use of evidence based treatment strategies and personalized holistic services. We provide a path of wellness and recovery to improve the physical, spiritual, mental, and emotional health of individuals and families.

Our Vision

Our vision is to provide comprehensive and affordable behavioral health programs for individuals and families with substance use disorder and Co-Occurring disorders; thereby, providing the all persons seeking recovery the ability to achieve his/her fullest potential and to participate in and contribute to all aspects of his/her life.

Our Treatment Philosophy

The Genesis House, Inc’s treatment philosophy is to provide individualized treatment and clinically appropriate services that will assist the individual and the family in treating all components substance use disorder, addiction, and dual diagnosis.

We blend the latest evidence-based practices with historically proven methods including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Enhancement Therapy, Family Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, 12-Step integration, Motivational Interviewing and positive peer culture.

Treatment Goals

  • Motivation through the stages of change
  • Foster the appropriate cognitive/behavioral changes necessary thus improving overall functioning
  • Identifying personal strengths and building on these strengths to use in combination with supportive social systems to foster long-term success in recovery
  • Improve the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs in the context of identified limitations.

Confidentiality

Genesis House demonstrates adherence to all Federal and State confidentiality laws and regulations with regards to client identity, records, and staff accesses to records. Confidentiality of client identity and records is maintained for every client and client record. Policies and procedures developed by Genesis House are developed in such a manner as to protect the agency and affiliated organizations from liability, protect personnel from liability, and protect the client from the possibility of exposure and stigma.
